UN Cease Fire after a month of Fierce Fighting

A Lot of people in the region are suspicious of the actual benefit of the cease fire. Nevertheless it needed to happen as I refuse to believe that more Violence will ever help solve the conflict anyway... and especially disproprotionate use of violence against Civilians.

The latest Top stories concerning the current Cease Fire are:

Unfortunately the same Cease Fire aimed at bringing peace has also had the effect to intensify the fighting until the last minute.

The sign above my head said "INRI" "King of the Jews", when you killed me 3 days ago.  I told you I would rebuild the temple in 3 days.

    Ummm...Ok...

I know what you are referring to, however I fail to see how it is constructive to this thread.

You might feel more at home on a religion-focussed message board ;-)

Re: UN Cease Fire after a month of Fierce Fighting

The spiral of violence must be stopped and I am convinced that internationally not all Jewish people are in favour of Military intervention in Lebanon. How morally fair is it to intervene with such strength against a whole nation for a few captured soldiers?

I have a picture of Montreal Rabbis opposed to the war. It was taken back a few weeks ago during the Montreal Peace demo, even before the current ceasefire.

What is INRI? I am a no religious expert and I am curious. Is paul referring to a passage of the Torah? If yes then which one?

On a more positive note, we have an exclusive raw video of Kofi Annan today. He seems optimistic and even admits international diplomacy has made progress as regards the Middle East Situation.

Let's hope he is right. I personally think that unless there are efforts made to resolve the Palestinian refugee situation on a bigger scale then there shall be no lasting peace in the troubled region.

Re: UN Cease Fire after a month of Fierce Fighting

INRI is what was written on Jesus' cross.

It is a latin abbreviation which stands for "Jesus of Nazarene, the King of the Jews".

Hence why I found it odd that he brought it up.

In regards to finding a solution to the Palestinian refugee issue, upon taking office, Ehud Olmert was ready & willing to hand over most(if not all) of the West Bank to the Palestinian Authority (Gaza already has been). However, with the election of Hamas, and this new conflict, that will undoubtedly be pushed back for a few more years.

It will happen eventually though. Not because Israel actually wants to give up the land, but because the quickly expanding number of Palestinians in the West Bank is seen as a threat to the demographics of Israel. Currently, there are approximately 2.5 million Palestinians in the West Bank alone. There are only 5.5 million Jews in all of Israel. By 2015, estimates peg the number of Palestinians in the West Bank & Gaza(1.3 million Palestinians currently) at just under 6 million. Thus, you can see why this would be of great concern to the Israeli government. They fear becoming a minority in Israel.
